Karen Zehnal is the owner and operator of the Zehn Yoga Studio located in the picturesque rural village of Lakeside, Ontario.
Karen began her career in health and wellness when she graduated in 1981 from the University of Western Ontario with a degree in Occupational Therapy. She went on to work in rehabilitation and hospital-based clinics and community care centers across Southwestern Ontario providing clincal service, as well as expanding into research, education, management and program development. Karen opened a private practice in 2001, providing occupational therapy service to community health agencies and private assessments for assistive devices, wheelchairs, walkers and home modifications.
Her areas of expertise include stroke rehabilitation and recovery, neurological, orthopedic and geriatric rehabilitation as well as environmental adaptation and therapeutic intervention for clients with neuro-muscular, cognitive and chronic disease conditions.
Karen has continued her training in health and wellness, becoming a certified instructor for Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction through the UCSD Center for Mindfulness, San Diego, California and Hatha Yoga through the Sivananda Yoga Ashram, Val Morin, Quebec in 2013. She has completed training in qigong and yoga therapy for chronic pain, cancer and chronic disease.
In 2015, the Zehn Yoga Studio opened in Lakeside, Ontario. The studio overlooks Lake Sunova to the west and Lakeside Park to the east. As well as regular weekly yoga and meditation classes, Karen offers private instruction and small group workshops designed to calm, harmonize and re-vitalize the mind-body-spirit connection.
